Shelley: Day 1 - It's BMR not Bummer!!!

A really good first day!! I'm super motivated and ready to be non-flubbery!!  Thanks again Katie for kicking my trash and getting me moving again!!

I love the gym but Monday's Ella (half of a matched set, she's 3 going on 30) has dance lessons.  So today, I just clung to my calorie goals with an iron fist.

If you want to lose weight, there's no gimick, it's actually super simple, it's just good old fashioned math.  First, you need to  know your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate), you can use an online calculator to figure it out or the equation above if you're a math wiz.  My BMR is 1760.  Simply put, every calorie I eat UNDER 1760 is burning fat as long as I'm eating reasonably healthy stuff (this does not apply if you are going all protein, then you burn a lot of muscle).  There are 3,500 cals in a pound, so that gives you some idea of how not worth a Cheesecake Factory visit is.

Here's what I ate today:

Ok, so I did not eat enough.  You don't want to starve yourself for two reasons, 1. Your body will go into starvation mode and cling to every last calorie and ounce of fat and will make it near impossible to drop weight, 2. You'll be a grouch pain the $%# and no one will like you.  Fat burns in the flame of carbohydrates, keep that in mind.  You actually need some carbs to burn fat.  That doesn't mean go out and eat a whole loaf of bread.  Carb overload, just metabolizes the carbs into fat for storage later.  It's all about just eating what you need and no more.

I'm planning to eat about 1,200 cals today so I'll be having an apple and some hummus later tonight, but I had time to blog now, so, here I am.

My BMR calc for the day:
1760-1,095= 665 Calorie deficit for today (That's awesome, but I'll be using about 150 of those later, still great).  (3,500 cals = 1 Lb)

I'm in this Cindy and Katie!!!  Lets bust a move!! I'm excited to hear how everyone's day went, Heidi, Caitie.  Don't neglect the blog, ask Katie, that's when you lose momentum!! (I know from experience;)).

Until tomorrow. . .
