First, Heidi, thanks for introducing yourself. I will try to get around to that this weekend. It's really fun to put a face to a name;).
It's day five and I'm doing so much better than expected. I'm just so ready this time!! Thanks again Katie for inviting me to join you! It was a temptation filled day as I teach preschool and today was our Valentine's Day party. So many kids brought me things. Most pre-made candy I can easily shunt aside but one adorable little girl brought me a Smart Cookie. If you've never had one, let me tell you, YUM. They are coated in so much frosting. I LOVE FROSTING!! Ask Kaite, I once made 2 Tbs of frosting to get my fix.
Anyway, instead of eating the entire cookie myself (which I SO WANTED to do), I shared it with my kids. I did have a portion of it but it is fully accounted for under my random snitching item. I'm so glad we're blogging, because if we weren't, I'm not gonna lie, I so would have eaten that freaking cookie. I was so glad I avoided the sugar cookie debacle of 2014. I've added the link to the post in case you have morbid curiosity;)(http://brightonbiggestloser.blogspot.com/search?q=sugar+cookie). Among other things I ignored today were Dunkin Doughnuts, bagles and cream cheese, chocolate, and I can't even tell you!! But I held out, thanks to you ladies!Other than that, I'm going strong. I put in a stellar work out today. I really busted it. No one to chat with and even though my heart rate monitor didn't always say I had a heart beat (maybe I am heartless) I managed to burn a little over 1,000 cals in a solid two hour workout.
Since I managed to ignore my darker side (see sugar cookie episode above) I decided I deserved a special dinner and got Pho from my favorite restaurant. I had them put the noodles on the side and actually weighed them on my food scale when I got home so I didn't over do it. The truth is the broth is my favorite part anyway and that's practically free as long as I don't add a bunch of hoisin.
Sorry for the seriously long post, I was just so proud of myself for ignoring all the Valentine's treats! PS. when you see my food today, I tried a new thing for breakfast from Trader Joe's, too many calories and NOT filling at all. Avoid the Handfuls of Breakfast Trek Mix. Not a great way to stave off hunger and be healthy.
I also stopped by Subway today and I wanted to share a trick I use. I have them remove all the insides of the bread (I avoid some cals that way that I just don't miss and have them add extra lettuce). I usually don't get light mayo but I decided the girl I was ordering from would actually comply with my request for "a little" and she did. I always get American Cheese there because it is only 40 cals for the two pieces they put on your samie and I just love cheese.
Here's today's breakdown:

BMR CALC: (1760+1,016)-1,660=1,116 Calorie Deficit Today (3,500 cals = 1 Lb). I definitely eat a bit more on hard work out days. But still a good deficit today.
TODAY'S TIP: Some things in life ARE free!!
When I'm really buckling down on what I'm eating I like to maximize. I'm a volume girl. I just hate to feel hungry. To that end, I use things that are either calorie free or very low cal to bulk up or add flavor. One of my favorites, when I'm first starting out and my stomach is still adjusting, is broth. At night, when I get that need to head to the fridge or pantry I first get myself two cups of broth. It's the best appetite killer and I'm staying hydrated! Another favorite is mustard, no calories in mustard!! So I always add that to my samies instead of mayo. I also love hot sauce. When I'm in a hurry, and I want some Progresso soup (lots of volume for not a lot of cals) I add a few drops of Frank's Red Hot to eliminate that can flavor. Dill pickles are also a good one for that need to snack. They actually take more calories to digest than they provide so eat away and no harm done!
Katie, this one is just for you. On your trip, eat super slow, like one pea at a time slow. The slower you eat the less you will consume while still enjoying the flavor. You can also portion your meal before you tuck in. Just use your knife and grab a small segment of mashed potatoes, meat, and lots of veg as long as it doesn't look too oily, and enjoy. I'm sure Dan would gladly take the rest off your hands and then you won't be tempted. I know if it's on my plate, sometimes I just feel this compulsion to keep eating, it makes me insane. Make sure to drink lots of water too. Make yourself take a drink of water between each bite, you'll also fill up faster this way. You can do it!!! I've been so inspired by you!!! I know you can handle this without falling off a cliff!! Be honest in your food diary and you'll be good to go! Also, have fun!! We'll all be looking forward to hearing about it!
Until tomorrow. . .
